Description

Predominantly bluish green in colour underneath and yellowish brown above; long bill curved slightly downwards; long central tail feathers; sometimes in small, noisy groups.

Habitat

Open country with places to perch such as bushes, telephone wires, etc.

Nest

Colonial; in holes in the side of sandy banks, but also burrow downwards into the soil; unlined.

Diet

Large insects such as bees, dragonflies, etc., caught on the wing.

Visitor during the months of:

March to September.
