Description

It is the largest of the Harriers; without a white rump; the male is browner than other species; the female is very dark, with a pale head and breast; edge of wing also pale.

Habitat

Almost always marshlands with reed beds.

Nest

In reed beds; a pile of reeds and twigs.

Diet

Small mammals and birds, especially aquatic.
